Oh there's so much choice for great bars in Sydney now! For fantastic sliders and an exclusive, luxurious feel, I love Hemmesphere (accessed via lift inside 252 George St), or little wine bars like Grasshopper, The Passage, or places great for dinner too like Jimmy Liks in Darlinghurst. You get stunning harbour views and ambience at the International Passenger Terminal off Circular Quay, and if you head that way from the city you can go past Argyle at The Rocks, or The Stitch. Otherwise Gardel's, above Porteno in Surry Hills is quirky, with delicious snacks and drinks and it's right above one of the best spots to have dinner too.
Tricky. Jam Jar Cocktails - The Lobo Plantation, and Helm @ Darling Harbour.
For the James Bond cocktail feel - definitely Cherry @ The Star. Oh, and Red Lily at Darlinghurst. It is great to enjoy a cocktail hangover at the latter.
It all depends on what you like in a bar. There are bars for those who prefer a drop of the grape, like the Russell Wine Bar in the Rocks, with a wonderful array of wines and some delicious nibbles to soak some of it up. But one of my favourite watering holes when I want to enjoy a beer and a nosh is the Shakespeare at Surry Hills, a good no-nonsense kind of pub with Guinness on tap and quotes from the bard on the frosted glass windows.
