Woman reading

Sometimes you just need to get out of the office and enjoy some peace and quiet. Sure the city is a rumbling non-stop traffic machine, but there are a few little pockets of quiet for some quasi-alone time for just you; your book and some old-fashioned fresh(ish) air. Where’s your favourite?

There's a nice little spot at the top of Hyde Park, close to that little cafe Metro St James. It's so beautiful and peaceful it doesn't even feel like you're in the city!
The Domain is a good spot to lay down a blanket and curl up with a book for a bit (as long as there's no event being held there).
I also love the Botanic Gardens for this, just around the corner from the Domain but with a view of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. Beautiful!

Simple, but how about under a tree in Hyde Park. There are areas opposite Martin Place that aren't too crowded. If you bring a rug, you can sit by the flower beds and it's quite nice.
Customs House Library is beautiful, yet for the beautiful sunshine when it comes to the great outdoors in our fab city - I'd have to say Hyde Park. There are some great shady spots too.
A beautiful spot to read and relax is on the Cliff rocks that overlook the ocean on the coastal walk between Bondi and Bronte. There are often people reading, writing and meditating around this area due to the breathtaking scenery.
A lovely locale. I'll definitely try that :)
Hyde Park near the fountain.
A couple of other answers have said Hyde Park but it's definitely my favourite place. If you find a nice quiet spot under a tree, or on a secluded bench, it's very lovely.
Victoria Park next to USYD. It's always quiet but not too quiet. And the temperature is always perfect. Either sit by the lake with a blanket or on one of their many benches! Definitely my favourite place
