With Christmas around the corner, this means deciding on the perfect Christmas gift for friends and family. Where do you go to shop for Christmas presents and where are the best places to shop for Christmas gifts in Sydney?
I like David Jones in the city - both Elizabeth and Market Streets. Being a DJ's American Express card holder, I can defer payment on my Christmas purchases until February the year after, without having to incur any interest. Also like some of the Christmas shopping events they put on sometimes.
A personal shopping favourite for me, wherever I am, is Oxfam as you can buy gorgeous fair-trade goodies from all around the world, while financially supporting the artisans. Oxfam shops sell gorgeous home décor, giftware, fashion accessories, kitchen-ware, stationary items and much more and the profits all go towards supporting the artisans who produced them, unlike other shops where much of the profit goes to 'middle men'. There are two Oxfam shops in Sydney and they're situated at Shop G15, Broadway Shopping Centre, 1 Bay Street, Broadway and 394 Oxford Street, Paddington. If you don't live close to either, you can also shop online at https://www.oxfam.org.au/shop/
Sydney also has heaps of great markets such as the ones at Paddington and Balmain which are well worth checking out for gorgeous locally-made arts and crafts. Alternatively, I always love shopping at local galleries and museums, and even old-fashioned gems such as school and church fetes, as they often also sell special hand-crafted goodies.
