One of my favourite things to do on a night out is listen to live music. Whether its jazz, rock or some funky acoustics; there's just something captivating about musicians performing right in front of your eyes. Unfortunately, live music venues are becoming quite hard to find. So let's help each other out. What are some of your favourite places to listen to live music?

So true, I've noticed that live music has a flat battery in Sydney at the moment in comparison to what used to be. The Bridge at Rozelle is ok, otherwise The Marble Bar at Sydney's Hilton hotel plays some great live music on a Wednesday night. Good jazz is also played at The Brighton Fisho's.
My favourite place is easily The Basement in Circular Quay. Almost every night of the week they have amazing musicians performing, and there's lots of variety too. Lots of famous names have graced The Basement stage, and no matter who's playing, the atmosphere is always lively, there's yummy Mexican food and a fully-stocked bar. How can you go wrong?
Love it!

I don't know what the status is on the Annandale Hotel these days, but 5 years ago they revived live music there and I believe that they still regularly host bands. Agree with all the other suggestions on here thus far.. some great ones! The Marble Bar has fantastic jazz music! One of the things that does happen more often in Sydney now is live daytime acoustic sets at many beer gardens around the city and the suburbs. Great for a Sunday lunch and a listen, plus keeps the kids busy boggieing on down.
It honestly depends on what day it is. On Friday nights Dee Why on the Northern beaches will almost always have some thing on. Whether it is a few young musicians busking on the street near the beach or a love performance at a restaurant near the water. There is always something different on offer. Also if you are looking for something fun and you are under 18 there is a youth club in Frenchs Forest on the Northern Beaches. (YOYO's). It's cheap- generally only about $7 to get in. They are always having open mic nights and some really talented young people have made their way through those doors.
