There's nothing quite like gathering the family around, or having friends over, and having some laughs over a board game. Some love the popular classics like Monopoly, while others are on the lookout for something new and unknown. Where is the best place in Sydney to buy board games?
I've recently discovered Kidstuff on Military Road in Mosman. They are a toy and game store, and have a range of board games that are totally different from the usual ones I see. They even have little games that are designed to replace the dice in another game, so that you add on some extra fun to your already existing games.
Kings Comics in Town Hall doesn't sell conventional board games like Monopoly and the Hippopotamus one, but it has a huge range of really cool TV, movie and comic based board games (which are even more fun in my opinion!)
Apart from the usual suspects, like Toyr'R'US which can be found in different places, some of the best kids toys and games I've seen have been at HobbyCo in the QVB. There are also other stores there which sell similar stuff - but HobbyCo is set out so that it's really fun for kids to run around and play, and there's a huge variety on offer.
I remember one rainy Saturday wandering into a shop called MegaGames on High Street in Penrith. In this amazing store was the widest range of board games I had ever seen from Monopoly to Settlers of Catan. It also had a dozen or more tables of people playing games in one of its regular games tournaments. It has since become one of my favourite places on the planet, the sort of place that I can rarely resist passing without looking in and when I do look in I often feel compelled to buy something. It is a place to sharpen the mind and reconnect with that era when gaming meant something other than sitting like blob in front of a TV or computer... although they also cater to blobs
