best water feature in sydney, best outdoor water feature in sydney
A popular outdoor water feature in Sydney. Weddings are held right near here. A hit with locals and visitors to Sydney alike.

Sydney is home to some fantastic outdoor art, as well as some wonderful outdoor water features. Any outdoor water feature is awesome in slowing us all down. One that comes to mind has recently been restored at a popular City park, while another is located inside a historical hospital. Where is the best outdoor water feature in Sydney?

El Alamein Memorial Fountain at Kings Cross (pictured) can be found at the corner of Darlinghurst Road and Maclay Street. It creates a nice contrast with the rest of the area and pays homage to the battle in Egypt of the same name in 1942. Additionally, unbeknownst to me until very recently, the Sculpture Park at Macquarie University boasts a lovely fountain by the lake.
Thanks Lisa for this awesome answer. I love this waterfall picture :)
Sydney's Hyde Park is a clear standout. Many people love having their photos taken outside this one, and some people do indeed make a wish. The feature in the courtyard area at Sydney Hospital - as you're walking towards The Domain is also lovely. It is floral and pottery like perched atop on grass.
I agree with the Archibald Fountain (made famous in Alexander's Outing - a great picture book that you can follow the walk thru the Botanic Gardens up to the Fountain with little kids)..
There is one at Bicentennial Park in Homebush, where children can run and splash. Parents can relax on the grass nearby.
