What do you like doing on New Years Eve in Sydney? Although the majority of Sydney residents are into watching the fireworks; yet the latter is not everyone's cup of tea so to speak. Some people love to spend some time with family in bringing in the new year. Others want to go nightclubbing, or spend some quality time on Sydney Harbour. Or engage in some other activity. What do you like doing on New Years Eve in Sydney? Why? On the other hand, do you avoid Sydney like the plague and escape to the countryside for some peace and quiet? Or do you travel interstate or overseas to see out the old year and bring in the new?

Either I'll stay at the family home in Rozelle, and then walk to Birchgrove Oval to watch the 9pm fireworks. Once they've finished, we will walk back home and spend some quality time together. We'll just tune in to watch the midnight fireworks as I like the theme for this year - Shine. Pretty cool.

Or, I'll book a flight to Melbourne on the whim and catch up with friends down there. I'll then fly back home on New Years Day without any sleep the night prior, and just sleep all day then.
Hanging out with my family and watching fireworks on our balcony. We are fortunate enough to see all of them at the same time.
You wouldn't want to be anywhere but in the city, would you? HIRE A BOAT. If you have a boat license, great, but if not there are drivers too that can take you into the harbour. Book early! OR If you know someone who works in one of the CBD office buildings, take the elevator to the top and have a panoramic view of the stunning fireworks. I would do this with my family as a kid, we'd go for the 9pm show.
