Regardless of the season, ice skating in Sydney is one great activity for both adults and kids alike. Sure, the winter months bring forth a number of pop-up ice skating rinks - both in the city and suburbia. When it comes to the best ice skating rink in Sydney, there are two that come to mind. One is inside a busy shopping centre with a cinema complex, while the other is closer to the city. Where is the best ice skating rink in Sydney? Why? The service? More room to skate? Can choose between both figure and hockey skates? Is there a particular rink where you have fallen down on the ice the most?
It's tricky. I like both Canterbury and Macquarie. Yet for the size, I'd have to say Macquarie. Macquarie Ice Rink is also inside a shopping centre. As well as ice skating (depending on what day/time you come here) you can grab a bite to eat - do some shopping - catch a film - go to the bank all under the one roof. Also get any documents verified by lovely JP's at the same time too.
I have to agree about Macquarie Ice Rink - it is big and accommodates people on all levels of skating skills. They also have program for very young kids, where they are looked after by professionals, as well as great birthday parties programs and Kids Disco on certain afternoons.
Being in a shopping centre is another plus.
The Macquarie Centre Ice Rink is so convenient. It's easy to get too (trains, buses and the shopping centre car park if you drive). Seems pretty popular with all sorts of people too - there's always young kids and beginners out on the rink when I go, but I've also watched people have private sessions from the food court above it.
