It's amazing that something that is essentially bread, egg, bacon and sauce can vary so greatly in quality, taste and price from one place to the next. And when you're hungry on a Saturday morning, there's nothing you want more than the best egg and bacon roll around.
This morning I went to Just Sports in Bankstown where a guy sits out the front with a barbecue selling sausages on a roll, or in my case, egg and bacon rolls. At $4 each, it was worth every delicious bite.
Yum, now I am craving one. There were a couple in the city that I loved, until I ventured to Narwee No 1 Take Away on Penshurst Road. They served some amazing bacon and egg rolls with tomato sauce for only $5. Pity they've closed down due to a fire. Otherwise I am on the hunt. It will be interesting to see what you all come up with. Dom, I'll try that Bankstown place, and for $4 - bargain :)
I'm a little bit of a B&E sarnie connoisseur - the greatest gourmet ones are found at Cornersmith (Marrickville) and The Little Mule (Stanmore).
The greatest big greasy ones are found at a little shop in the same underground food court as North's Sandwiches (CBD). $5 for a big soft bun, two fried eggs and a pile of delicious gritty bacon, slathered in your choice of sauce (for me it's BBQ). They're my weekday hangover helper. ;)
