I'm an avid follower of so many blogs - cooking, fashion, home decor - love it! But I get weary of endless American and UK offerings; there's never anything they feature that I can find here on the other side of the world. It's no fun to miss out on giveaways either.
My local blog roll is looking a little empty, and I'd love some new recommendations. Who are your favourite Sydney bloggers, and what do they blog about?
Two Sydney-based bloggers who have gone on to be quite successful are Not Quite Nigella and Sydney Fashion Blogger. Food and cake enthusiast Lorraine Elliott is the mind behind Not Quite Nigella and she covers all aspects of food on her site. Whether it be her own recipes, restaurant reviews or eating while travelling overseas, Not Quite Nigella has it covered. It totally makes me drool.
Sydney Fashion Blogger is mostly well known from her instagram account where she post pictures of the amazing clothes she wears. Of course a lot of it is high end fashion and she is absolutely tiny but I have a lot of friends who follow her to see what is on trend.
Bullseye - we're on one right now: the sensational Toopa Sydney here on the HubGarden.com network!
Sydney, we're a hard working bunch when it comes to our blogs. This may be self promotion, however, these hubs/sites/blogs were set up by me (a hard working Sydney sider) with articles published by a bunch of passionate freelance writing foodies / Sydney siders to date. Note: I also run these sites, and I was the founder of them here on the HG network:
Plus there is also KidTown Sydney: http://sydney.kidtown.com.au/
With three Sydney based hubs in the top 9 (four in the top 15) on the HubGarden.com network, all set up and contributed by Sydney siders - that is so amazing and cool!
Beside those that have been written above (Toopa Sydney, obviously!) there's also Eat Drink Play. It covers the hottest restaurants, bars and events, with witty, intelligent articles. If you want a a great night out in Sydney, this website has some perfect recommendations.
Louise Hawson of 52 Suburbs is a great Sydney blog success story. Last year on the strength of her original weekly quest to photograph a different Sydney suburb every year, she and her daughter Coco travelled around the world to photograph lesser known towns! He photographs are heartwarming and beautifully composed.
Grab Your Fork is a great food blog that reviews Sydney pubs and eateries. It's influenced many a meal!
Although it's not a blog and more of a magazine/news site, I'll always hit up Time Out Sydney to find a new spot to visit or to see reviews of my favourite haunts.
She doesn't really update it anymore, but a trawl through the back catalogue on glutenfreewheeling.com is great for people looking for gluten free food in Sydney. Plus, there's some truly mouth watering photos, and even a few posts on gluten free eating in America when the blogger made a trip there.
Belle's Bookshelf is a nice blog with a friendly vibe that is all about books, with a focus on Young Adult. Belle works at Buzzfeed in Sydney, and will often link to fun things going around there too.
I've recently started my own blog on Tumblr (dustyreadings.tumblr.com) which is all about vintage books. It's mostly just photographs of them, as well as info on where I found them. For those who are crazy like me and get excited over really old books.
