For Sydney worker bees looking for a creative outlet, are there any good art classes (painting, sketching, sculpting, drawing etc) in the city? Something that won't break the bank but would offer great value.
The art classes at the Sydney Community College are quite good - they're held at Rozelle on Gordon Street right where the old primary school used to be. Otherwise, I love the $5 a session art classes at the Surry Hills Neighbourhood Centre:
I haven't been but I'd really like to try out Dr Sketchy's. They call themselves 'the anti-art school', and are based around life drawing. Only instead of usual life drawing, they have people draw burlesque performers, cabaret singers and vintage models. The classes also include live performances, and you can choose to have dinner or drinks as well.
As I said, I haven't been before but I would love to, so I thought I'd mention it here in case anyone out there has been and could talk about it a little. It does have rave reviews after all, and seems fun for those looking for an adult art class with a difference.
